KIHU's newest area of expertise is the development of disabled sports. We have implemented development, service and research projects on disabled sports since the year 2004. A developer of disabled sports is currently working at KIHU and cooperating with various partners within the field of disabled sports.

Methods

In the research, development and service projects related to disabled sports, KIHU extensively utilizes the measuring, analysis and evaluation methods of its areas of expertise. The game analysis and feedback systems developed at KIHU have been applied to several sports. Moreover, the biomechanical methods used for testing and observing performance technique, as well as the principal methods of psychology (e.g. discussions, interviews and inquiries), have been applied to map and enhance the performance of athletes.

References

The cooperation has focused on sitting volleyball, wheelchair rugby, shooting, archery, athletics, and alpine sports. Collaboration with the Finnish Paralympic Committee has also been intensive.
